Details
Hello, I am Jin Guangyao, Chief Cultivator and Sect Leader of Lanling Jin. I am thirty-seven years old and a widower. I enjoy the company of both men and women. I prefer my partners to be above eighteen years of age. (My nephew is fourteen and I cannot imagine dating someone close to his age.) I am a fairly friendly person, who enjoys deep conversation over tea and wine and a hearty debate or spar in the field. I have too many hobbies and a love for reading, calligraphy, cooking, gardening, and numbers. I also enjoy games of strategy like Weiqi. I had spent the last year of my life in an alien prison that thrived on dual cultivation, so I am sure I have some colorful stories. This place is strange, but I am willing to embark on this new adventure and hopefully make some lovely friends along the way.
My Future PlansCurrently I am just getting my footing here. I am looking to make friends and allies who would be willing to play this game with me. I am very versatile in both my preferences and tastes, and can happily be the pursuant partner or the receiving one. I like to negotiate boundaries before anything untoward happens so that we both can have a safe and pleasurable experience. That is all the plans I have currently, I would like to make my new home comfortable. I am currently working on decorating my new room. Tell me about your artistic tastes.
My TalentsFirst and foremost I am a cultivator, I am adept at swordsmanship as well as diplomacy. I have been told I am a good orator and facilitator. On a more amorous note, I grew up in a brothel so there is nothing that surprises me. I try to be as knowledgeable as I can be and am willing to learn how to please my partners. Whether that is words of affirmation or spending hours between their thighs. Because of my cultivation style, I am very flexible. Do with that information what you will. If in a bondage situation, I prefer to be on the dominant end unless I know you well. I like being close friends with someone I can give up control to and prefer a much softer approach when I am on the receiving side.
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and FoodI love all the classic novels as well as poetry. As for movies, most of the ones in the prison were strange bug pornographic dramas. Half the time the males were eaten. It was quite odd indeed! My friend and I used to watch them together and make fun of them or make up our own plots. One epic had us strangely invested. I love music, especially classical music. I play the guqin and like playing folksongs my mother used to play for her clients. One time in prison, my Da-ge showed me some kind of alien music called "metal". If there was a kind of haunted music that would be it. A lot of hellish screaming. I did not like that. It is the worst thing I have ever heard. As for food, I love trying all kinds of different food, though I love food from my home town. I love things spicy and a lot of fish dishes. Hot noodles and pork and lotus soup are excellent in the autumn festival. Please let me try some of your favorite foods and allow me to expand my palate.
My Ideal Partner
One mountain, two mountains. Separated by the many ranges of sky-high mountains, and misty cold rivers, my lovesickness taints the maple leaves crimson. Chrysanthemums bloom, chrysanthemums wither. Geese from frontiers fly over high, yet my love has not returned, It’s only the curtains swinging in moonlight.
It is hard to talk about my ideal partner when I have lost my wife and both my sworn brothers, but I like kind people. People who would not judge you for your background and would hold you in understanding and love. I love having a deep connection to my partner and would like someone I can be fully open and honest. I would like to have someone I can relax around and be myself around, even if that self is a bit nebulous at the moment. I am learning to be better and who I am when I am not trying to please people. It is a difficult journey, but I would like my partner to be someone who could not only understand that but who could grow with me.

Date: 2024-01-25 05:29 am (UTC)Oh goodness, you're there already? I feel worse for standing you two up like this.
[He would be surprised, usually he never got himself caught. But that couldn't be helped. At the easy conversation between the husbands, he couldn't help but smile. It was nice to see a couple being domestic. It made him miss Mingjue. He chewed his lip, not sure how much to divulge.]
Would you believe I am usually really good at not getting caught?
Well, I'll give you the short version. I can share more when we meet if you like.
A man who is my enemy from back home is here. In my life, I had killed his brother. We were in a situation where either I killed him or he killed me. He was my sworn brother but he had a deteriorating condition where his qi was unstable and he grew more unstable by the day. He was built like a martial god, the strongest cultivator of our generation. And well you've seen me. It was not righteous but it was either that or death.
This started a dumb chain of events where my enemy, caused the death of a few people I loved and used someone I loved to kill me.
I met my Da-ge in the place I was in before this and we worked things out between us.
In that time mostly had gotten over some of the things that happened, but there was some information I needed from my enemy. [He needed to know where Nie Huaisang had stashed his mother's body.]I had dragged him into one of those pods to try and talk to him. Turns out he was from a few hours before my death, and didn't know, but realized that I knew of his intent to kill me.
We got into a scuffle and I made him feel inadequate, so he made a huge kerfuffle about it. He is a rank 9 and I am a 3. And things went as these things go when you deal with people who are in power. Same thing, different world and all of that.
So I am serious about being a high enough rank, that I can defend myself from more of this.

Date: 2024-01-25 05:40 am (UTC)I thought I should find out if I would like the drinks here. [ he waves a hand to dismiss the apology—it's not necessary. they have plenty of time here, unfortunate though that reality may be.
if this is the short version, hua cheng can only wonder how much more complicated the long version will be. he can pick out the main details of it, at least—a complicated relationship, or a handful of those, a qi deviation, a death. hua cheng can see why one might have complicated feelings about the death of one's brother, but can just as easily see why one might kill to preserve their own life. ]
Your word against his, and they took the word of the higher rank. I see. [ exactly the kind of unequal bullshit hua cheng is used to observing in the world. ] Would they release you into the custody of a seven and a six in order to play their game, I wonder?
[ it's a long shot, definitely, but also might be the kind of bullshit they'd pull. ]

Date: 2024-01-25 06:32 am (UTC)[He understood where Nie Huaisang was coming from, but the man was being so ridiculous. He's done it, what more did he want? But count on the man to act like a stubborn and spoiled child and utilize his privilege. This prison was odd too. More like a luxury hotel and the guards just handed him a fresh bento with expensive fish.]
That type of thing that happens, though If I were being honest I got the impression that they just wanted him to shut up over any real need to punish me. They just handed me this expensive fish box... The whole thing is odd.
It might be worth a try, but I would hate to put both of you out of your way on my account.

Date: 2024-01-25 03:15 pm (UTC)[ at least it doesn't seem like he's in danger. honestly, hua cheng wouldn't even blame him for wanting to stay there a bit, if for no other reason than to keep himself out of the line of fire from this enemy from home who's found him here. especially if they're feeding him fancy bentos.
either way, hua cheng shrugs. ] Ask them, then. If they're amenable we'll come retrieve you, and if not, we'll reschedule our meeting.
[ it doesn't really count as putting hua cheng and xie lian out of their way when they already had plans to meet this afternoon, right? it just means a change of locale. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-01-29 06:46 am (UTC)[This said with the confidence of a man who had found himself in prison.]
Okay, I'll ask. There is someone right at the entrance. [Bits of muffled conversation could be heard in the background.]
They say as long as you can come to get me and keep out of sight of the crying guest who called me in I can go. It seems like they mostly put me in here to pacify that man. I am happy to share some of my lunch box with you if you like.
no subject
Date: 2024-01-30 07:49 pm (UTC)[ jin guangyao moves to talk to the guard at the entrance; hua cheng turns his attention back to xie lian, now returning with two of his favorite drink (mocha with extra squirty cream and chocolate sprinkles, for the curious). eh, gege, it looks like a mountain, hua cheng says, and xie lian says something indistinct but charming that prompts hua cheng to laugh.
when jin guangyao comes back to the feed, hua cheng is sipping his drink. ]
Oh? [ that seems like a simple enough task. although hua cheng doesn't know what this enemy looks like, so maybe he'll have to get the rundown from jin guangyao. ] Then we'll be there shortly. I have no need of food, please keep it for yourself—or share with my husband, if you're intent on sharing.
[ and then they're off, making their way down to the jail based on directions from staff members (who seem rather confused indeed about why anyone would go to jail willingly). ]

Date: 2024-01-30 07:58 pm (UTC)Well, this was incredibly easy.

Date: 2024-01-30 08:17 pm (UTC)I truly believe they were only trying to mollify the one who was causing a scene rather than actually wanting to punish me, it looks like this place would rather lure us with honey than vinegar.
[He gave the others a small smile.]
This one thanks the both of you for rescuing me from my imprisonment. It is good to see you again.

Date: 2024-01-30 08:44 pm (UTC)It's good to see you as well. [ he also acknowledges the guards with a nod, as if to reassure them that they'll be taking jin guangyao into their custody now. ] This is a lovely prison, but I think it would be better if we went somewhere more private to talk, if that suits you both.
[ he leans over to kiss xie lian's temple. very sorry, jgy—he's just like this in his husband's presence. ]

Date: 2024-01-30 08:49 pm (UTC)[ His own bow is a mix of trying not to spill his Birdbucks drink, which is some sort of plastic-topped green-and-white monstrosity, and leaning into the kiss at his temple without thinking. ]
Does anyone have a preference where we go? The library is usually quiet, it has private booths.
no subject
Date: 2024-01-30 09:22 pm (UTC)I have not yet seen the library. That sounds like a lovely idea. Master Xie Liam, did you wish to share some of this bento with me? I have doubts I can finish it myself.
no subject
Date: 2024-01-30 10:06 pm (UTC)[ the private booths will get them out of the eyes of passersby, and it's likely to be quiet and not especially well-traveled. hua cheng has only visited the library once, but he remembers it being mostly peaceful.
as for the question of the bento, he'll leave that one up to xie lian, although he does squeeze his husband's hand in encouragement as they turn to make their way out of the jail area. ]

Date: 2024-01-30 10:17 pm (UTC)[ Idly, he rubs at Hua Cheng's palm with his thumb as they walk. Xie Lian has grown somewhat used to approaching new people for the sake of the game (still nerve-wracking!) and he vastly prefers making friends first, so even though he is a little nervous it's a relief to have already met Jin Guangyao before. ]
San Lang, I can show you where I'll be setting up your next calligraphy lesson while we're there.
[ He hasn't forgotten!! ]
no subject
Date: 2024-01-30 10:30 pm (UTC)Perhaps it would be better to have them separately. Fish is a light flavour, and mint is a rather strong one is it not?
[He walked behind the couple, quietly. He had become accustomed to the negotiations that were required for a place like this, and he and Mingjue had shared Aerith and Julieta a few times and both encounters were enjoyable. However, being the third to an established couple was a new experience. It helped that he had met both of them separately. It was interesting how his experience was evolving from one place to the other.]
Master San Lang is learning calligraphy? [He asked.] Is the library large? I used to work in the one that was in the last realm I was in. It was fascinating to find books from other places different from the ones I've grown up in.
no subject
Date: 2024-01-30 11:36 pm (UTC)[ hua cheng's handwriting remains determinedly terrible, but at least hua cheng gets to watch xie lian being beautiful and artistic and competent for hours at a time, and sometimes he gets to write sentences like i love my husband 3000 times, so you win some you lose some. ]
The library seemed large, though, yes. I haven't had a chance to peruse many of the books, but I get the feeling there's quite a selection.
no subject
Date: 2024-01-30 11:42 pm (UTC)San Lang is making steady progress, he also puts up with an overbearing tutor.
[ He tries not to give Hua Cheng too long of a soft look, since they have company. The new topic has him thinking of his last foray into the library, ears pinking at the memory. ]
I haven't perused the stacks very much but it looks extremely large for a library. I mostly noticed a lot of romance novels, at a glance.
no subject
Date: 2024-01-31 12:06 am (UTC)It sounds like a lovely way to spend time. Learning how to do something from someone you love deeply is always a treasured experience. [The image of long elegant fingers, gliding over his own to move across taut silk. A kind melodious voice telling him how good a student he is floated by. He repressed the thought and instead looked ahead with a smile, his hands balling against the wool of his cardigan.]
I'm certain with patience and love you'll excel at it soon enough. I'll root for your successful endeavor!
That makes sense since they probably want to give the residents a romantic atmosphere. Though it would be fun to see what tidbits of information could be gleaned from such a place.
The library I worked at had much the same. Even the technical manuals had sex in it somehow. There was a time the books sucked us into the material we were reading. My Da-ge and I ended up in some sort of pirate adventure story.
no subject
Date: 2024-01-31 03:47 pm (UTC)My husband speaks too highly of me. My calligraphy is... astonishing.
[ astonishing and not in a good way,,, and to be honest, he has little cause to improve, since having terrible handwriting means he gets to spend hours sitting with xie lian.
if he notices those pink ears, he doesn't comment on them. (not in front of jin guangyao, at least!) ]
Ah, that's right. Gege, did he tell you? Young master Jin was previously trapped in another different realm, other than the one where he was born. [ he's the only person hua cheng knows for whom that's true, which makes it a curiosity in itself. ] I hope none of the books here decide to do something similar... I'm not sure I'm cut out for a life at sea.
no subject
Date: 2024-01-31 07:04 pm (UTC)[ He gives Hua Cheng a sidelong look at the comment about the sea, eyes sparkling under lowered lashes even as he lightly replies. ]
I think you're a very accomplished sailor, my love.
[ He was lovely to lie atop of in their closed coffin that one time. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-01-31 07:52 pm (UTC)[There was a little invisible shiver of pride at being called indispensable. He didn’t want to think too deeply at that. But if there was a little bit more joy in his step surely it was your imagination.]
I’m sure Master San Lang would be fine. The villain of the story was a terrible sect leader from a land locked region, and if he managed, surely any of us have hope!
Though I would advise to be prepared for all sorts of ridiculous situations. Things tend to get surreal in places like these.
no subject
Date: 2024-02-01 07:00 pm (UTC)[ hua cheng laughs at that, but he's only half joking. ghost kings aren't known for being heroes—there's a reason he's called a calamity—and even xie lian's own friends still sort of consider him a villain, so it's a role he would occupy easily. ]
I'm certainly trying to keep an open mind about what we might find here. I doubt it will benefit anyone to be complacent.
[ not far ahead of them in the library is a small nook, mostly private, with a cluster of chairs centered around a small table in the center. it seems like as good a place as any for them to sit and talk, so hua cheng gestures toward it as if inviting the two of them to both come and sit. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-02-01 10:14 pm (UTC)[ That's what Xie Lian focuses on as the two chitter-chat about pirates. Once they sit down and he has looped an arm through Hua Cheng's, he gives a curious tilt of his head to Jin Guangyao. ]
You're not a ghost though, are you?
[ It's not entirely a question. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-02-01 10:30 pm (UTC)[What can he say to that? He was the villain in someone else's story, quite a few people depending on the genre you were writing. But that was not what he wanted to focus on.
He sat down across from them and set the bento down on the little table before folding his hands in his lap.]
Not that I know of. I have a heartbeat and all the trappings of someone alive. I need to eat and breathe, Though I certainly have my share of resentment built.[Was that joke?]
As far as I know, the creatures that took me to their world revived me, though I have no idea why they didn't revive me whole, I only lost my arm an hour at most before I died. [He waved the robot arm in a small gesture.]
I hadn't died a kind death, but it was on my terms at the end.
no subject
Date: 2024-02-02 05:33 pm (UTC)It is better to die on your own terms than anyone else's.
[ that much, hua cheng can empathize with. his death was cruel, too, but at least it was a death he wanted—on the battlefield in service of his prince, his god. hua cheng could ask for no nobler death than that. ]
no subject
Date: 2024-02-04 10:22 pm (UTC)[ He didn't mean to bring the vibes down like this, awkwardly smiling as talk of death dominates. Moving on, or attempting to, he squeezes Hua Cheng's hand in response to his comment and valiantly attempts to bring things back into focus. ]
San Lang, Master Jin, you two were discussing the three of us before I was brought into this. What did you both have in mind?
