❀ Political Savvy: Jin Guangyao is highly intelligent and utilizes his limited political capital to oversee large projects, such as the Lookout Towers, during his time as the Chief Cultivator. He also possesses a keen sense of anticipating people's needs and is skilled at resolving Inter-Sect disputes. During his reign, there were thirteen years of peace in the Jianghu. He is willing to employ both persuasion and coercion when necessary.
❀ Housekeeping: Jin Guangyao is skilled in household chores, including cooking, cleaning, organizing, and general caretaking. As a child, he often served food to clients, took care of cooking, washing, and laundry, ran errands, and ensured cleanliness and organization. In the audio drama, he even demonstrated a natural ability to calm babies and occasionally took care of those born in the brothels.

❀ Silver-tongue: Jin Guangyao is a skilled orator who can adeptly navigate conversations, persuading others to see his perspective or diverting attention from a contentious topic. He is also capable of using strategically chosen words to emotionally impact and undermine an individual by targeting their vulnerabilities.
❀ Robot-Arm: A prosthetic he gained in Reparacija to replace the arm that Lan Wangji had cut off in canon. It functions like a regular arm, but it channels all of his cultivation points and qi through it. There is a concealed Qin wire panel in the arm, in case he needs a swift weapon.

❀ Paranoia: Paranoia and mistrust play a significant role in Jin Guangyao's character. His abusive childhood in the brothel and his life experiences have reinforced this view of people. He is acutely aware of the various ways others can harm him and often has backup plans for backup plans.
This trait becomes more evident when he holds the position of Chief Cultivator. When his wife receives a letter revealing the unfortunate truth about their parentage, Jin Guangyao pleads with her to reveal the person who gave her the letter. He knows that this person can potentially blackmail them. To make her cooperate, he temporarily imprisons her in his secret room, allowing her time to calm down and think about it, pressuring her to disclose the name. Unfortunately, due to rapidly escalating circumstances, she ended up killing herself.
Regrettably, he is mostly proven correct in his paranoia.
❀ Ruthlessness: Jin Guangyao is a ruthless individual driven by his ambitions. During the war, he climbed the ranks as a spy and even devised new methods of torture to please Sect Leader Wen Ruohan. Under the rule of Jin Guangshan, he yearned for his father's approval, going so far as to proclaim that he would commit any crime for his father's love. As a result, he engaged in atrocious acts such as killing innocent people, conducting demonic experiments, and eliminating his father's political adversaries. Jin Guangyao is not one to resort to violence but is willing to take swift and decisive action when necessary. He firmly believes that the ends justify the means.
❀ Insecurity At his core, Jin Guangyao is an insecure person. He experienced abject poverty as a child and witnessed his mother endure abuse, humiliation, and sexual slavery. When he attempted to pursue an education, he was physically assaulted due to his low social status. His father is the Sect Leader of the esteemed cultivational clan of Lanling Jin, and he has a legitimate half-brother named Jin Zixuan, who shares the same birthdate as him. At the age of fourteen, after his mother passed away from illness, he sought out his father, only to be violently thrown down the long stone steps of Jinlintai. This incident occurred on both his brother's and his birthday.
As a result of these experiences, Jin Guangyao views money and power as sources of security. He has learned that the person standing at the top of the stairs is the safest one, and he has worked tirelessly to become that person.

VIRTUES:
❀ Empathy: If Jin Guangyao was truly ruthless, there would have been nothing to bring him down. However, he possesses deep empathy and shows mercy towards others. For instance, he could have killed Sisi, one of the prostitutes he used to kill his father. However, he recognized her as his mother's friend and instead chose to imprison her leading to the evidence that led to his destruction. In another instance, when he discovered that he and his soon-to-be bride Qin Su were half-siblings just before their wedding, he still married her because she was pregnant with their child. He chose celibacy over being unfaithful to her or continuing his sin. Additionally, as a youth during the war, he tried to help ordinary people, as shown by his care for a crying orphan baby in the audio drama.
❀ Resilience: Jin Guangyao is portrayed as one of the most resilient characters in Mo Dao Zu Shi. He possesses a strong determination and relentlessly pursues his goals. Throughout his life, he endured significant challenges, including being pushed down the stairs of Koi Tower on two occasions. The first time was when he was fourteen, by his father's men, and the second was by Nie Mingjue. Despite these setbacks, Jin Guangyao demonstrated his resilience.
After the first incident, he respectfully bowed to his father and continued, while after the second incident, he fixed his clothing and climbed back up the stairs. Even at the time of his death, he exhibited incredible strength and defiance. Despite having one hand poisoned and another severed by Lan Wangji and then skewered by a sword through his heart, he found the energy to scream and curse, showing no fear of his impending demise. Ultimately, it took Nie Mingjue's fierce corpse to lift Jin Guangyao and snap his neck, finally bringing an end to his life. Remarkably, he achieved all of this with relatively low cultivation, as he relied solely on his sheer force of will to survive.
❀ Visionary: Jin Guangyao's upbringing in abject poverty during his early childhood gave him a unique perspective on the ordinary person's role in the Cultivational world. He witnessed the suffering and deaths of common people in a war they had no part in, as well as the daily struggles they faced against the restless dead.
Later in life, he used his early political influence as Chief Cultivator to cleverly initiate the initially unpopular Watchtower project. By strategically constructing several watchtowers, he showcased their visible benefits and gained widespread approval. In the end, this measure saved more lives than any other action taken by the cultivation world before.

▷3: I suppose this really depends on the person involved. If it is someone I love and care for, such as a close friend or family member, of course, I will cry with them. Their pain becomes my own. However, if it is someone I have just met, I would try to help them, but it would be futile to waste energy on tears.

▶ I OFTEN MAKE A BACKUP PLAN FOR A BACKUP PLAN.
▷1: Life is unpredictable and terrible. In that case, it makes sense to keep in mind all of the possibilities that may happen so that one doesn’t end up on the end of a sword. Most of the time, even with all of that preparation, and execution one ends up on the end of a sword, regardless. [His smile is indeed very strained.]

▷4: While I'd like to say that I operate solely on pure logic, that's unfortunately not the case. In reality, many of the important decisions I've made in my life have been influenced by emotions. Who could have predicted that the Yiling Patriarch would come back to life and become the catalyst for my downfall? It was beyond imagination!

▷1: I worry about things taking a turn for the worst because, historically, they usually do.

▷5: No. When people argue around me, I often find myself getting hurt even if the argument doesn't involve me. In such situations, it is best to try and calm everyone down and have a peaceful discussion, just like proper cultivators. Perhaps I can also offer some cut fruits if people are feeling a bit hungry. (Sect leaders and toddlers are very similar actually. Little A-Ling behaves better sometimes!)

▶ I TEND TO AVOID DRAWING ATTENTION TO MYSELF.

I would like to request Diamonds for him the most. I feel like Jin Guangyao has many of the traits of the other three already but lacks being in his body. Diamonds will push him in that direction.
During his time on Reparacija, I had spent the most time getting him comfortable in both his body and with sex in general. (He has a lot of sexual trauma, in his past stemming from his parents and accidental incest with his half-sister.) He was celibate for thirteen years as well and uses his body more as a weapon than anything else. When he first arrived there he was very uncomfortable with trusting and being touched by people.
In the CRAU point, he is in now, he is finally comfortable with doing things with friends and exploring his desires a bit more. I want to continue exploring him learning to slowly not only see his body as a tool but slowly become comfortable with celebrating his more sexual side and that it is alright to have desire and be desired.

Appearance: here. Since I am pulling him from just before his death, he would come in missing his right hand. I want to have him earn a prosthetic hand later and work towards upgrades, if possible since it may open more CR opportunities for him.

Personality:

Jin Guangyao is the bastard son of a prostitute mother and a Sect Leader of the wealthiest clan in the cultivation world. Because of this, society looked down on him, and both he and his mother had to suffer many indignities throughout his early life. His mother's dying wish was for him to join his father's sect and be a filial son. The first time he tried to get recognized by his father was after his mother died, in which his father then had his men kick him down the stairs in response. He didn't give up, bowing and trying to make a name for himself and earn recognition. He moved through half his life with this goal in mind, only achieving it after killing Wen Ruohan, a warlord who had started a multi-sect war. However, the gentry could never see past his birth, and so he grew insecure and resentful over the continued cruelty he faced from society. For example, people often wiped their cups after he served them tea as if touching something that he touched dirtied them. People would constantly put him down for his low birth, but he tampered his resentment and offered them a smile instead.

Guangyao exudes an immense amount of control not only in his actions but in his outward expressions as well, usually keeping a pleasant facade. He is an excellent actor who can go from looking pitiable one moment to malicious the next. He also has an eidetic memory and both kindnesses and cruelties put upon him are never forgotten. Nie Mingjue, the first sect leader to take him in and later his sworn brother, called this a great talent.

He is resourceful, intelligent, adaptable, and will do whatever it takes to survive. He doesn't have much of an issue doing morally questionable things, even if it goes against his values, as long as it ensures his survival or ambitions. After all, with the position he was born into, he was forced to climb up to being Chief Cultivator with only his resourcefulness and some blood on his hands along the way. He had done horrible things in his life, killing his father, his sworn brother, and rival clan members. He had also tortured people under authoritarian rulers and burned a whole brothel down with people still inside.

However, he also did a lot of good. Under his leadership, there were 13 years of austerity; he built twelve-hundred watch towers in remote places to keep a broader watch on civilians who may encounter danger. He even got all the sects to work together to financially back and enact the project. This measure saved more lives than any other in the cultivation world's recent history. And the money that cannot pay for the services came from his clan's coffers. He built a temple on top of the brothel where he was born, and it was this temple that gave food and medicine to the poor city that surrounded it. Jin Guangyao is and always will be an end justifies the means person.

Ultimately, Guangyao is fifteen traumas tied together in an ugly hat. He is an incredibly complex person who chameleons his way through society to be given basic respect. He is not afraid to kill for that respect, either. But under all of that, he is a man who wants to do good and make his mother proud despite the many sins he has committed.

CRAU HISTORY:

Jin Guangyao is coming to Jigoku-Cho after assisting with the third shrine at Hakagemachi. He is currently possessed by a thousand-plus-year-old tenko (Celestial fox) Kitsune named Koemi. She had picked him up at the point of his death, spiriting his body away and bringing him to Hakagemachi as a vessel to share with her and help calm the shrines. This spirit is linked to him through a kitsune mask that he needs to keep near him at all times, lest he fades.

His connection to Koemi was weak at first, only feeling an overwhelming desire for survival. He had a hard time differentiating what was his own desperate need to live and what was hers. Having a Yao sharing his body was odd and as a cultivator, he had a hard time dealing with her but as time passed she got more vocal.

Koemi takes a somewhat maternal role in his life, being so old she sees him as a child. This works rather symbiotically for Jin Guangyao since he was young when he had lost his own mother, a prostitute who had died when he was thirteen or fourteen.

As a celestial fox, Koemi is one who fights against evil and had been actively working on alchemizing the insecurities that had caused Jin Guangyao to commit the evil deeds he had in his previous life. She tends to calm his anxieties and urge compassion against his enemies rather than revenge.

He met Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji upon arrival. He had a contentious relationship as they were partially responsible for his downfall. He was still reeling from the trauma from his death and had to deal with some harsh truths (Wei Wuxian being particularly combative and telling him that no one would light any incense or make offerings for him after he had passed.)

The other important person he had met was his nephew Jin Ling though now with a youkai of his own possessing him, an Okami who is able to sniff out any falsehoods. He had held the teenager hostage in his previous life in an attempt to escape before dying himself.

The encounter was awkward with many heavy feelings between uncle and nephew. They both ended up sitting under the awning of a dilapidated building and Jin Ling heard his story, what had actually led him to become the broken and paranoid man he had ended up becoming from the hopeful and eager youth he was. Nothing was forgiven but at least communication was brought up.

During his time in Hakagemachi, both Jin Guangyao and Koemi tended to be found cleaning the communal areas of the building, he was an anxious man when he did not have much to occupy him, so he would either play his guqin in the lobby and offer tea and company to residents or occasionally make food and invite neighbors. He is social and knows that connections are what saves a person and was also a bit lonely. Because of this nature, he made a few good friends and allies, often adopting them into the fold and telling them about his cute nephew.

Slowly, during quests and events, he began to repair his relationship with his nephew. At first, being impressed by Jin Ling's willingness to get his hands dirty on a quest when their reward was money that was covered in disgusting toilet water. He had noticed how much he had grown up from the spoiled little boy he used to be.

Thier relationship took the hardest turn when Jin Guangyao was trapped in the illusions of the Lake spirit.

The lake spirit had shown him a false reality, where he was growing up side by side to his brother and his mother alive as a second wife to his father. Where his brother and sister-in-law were alive and happy. Where thier birthdays were celebrated equally unlike in his past where his brother was the heir and golden child and he was nothing but a whore son. He found himself in his mother's arms and feeling that false sense of catharsis. He almost succumbed to this, the guilt of how terribly his life had gone and how much suffering he had caused weighing on him. That perhaps it was better to just stay. However, Jin Ling brought him out of this illusion, telling him that he owed him after everything that happened. That he owed him his life and to fight beside him.

And this was his new truth. He couldn't keep running from the things he broke he had to do the hard work on fixing things, and he chose to live for Jin Ling. This gave him the anchor he desperately needed and they both made a hasty retreat despite the Lake Spirit's insistence they stay with her under the lake, with nothing but a few scratches and some waking nightmares to show for it.

Together uncle and nephew met the onmyouji and took his proffered talisman, but did nothing with it at the end of it, deciding unknown magics were better left untouched until they knew what the talismans did, opting to have some time together at the local ramen-ya to try and come back from that misadventure.

Soon after he saw an illusion of his half-brother, he had the chance to meet Jin Zixuan who showed up in the city shortly after, with an Okami residing inside him much like his son. He was surprised to see him but he supposed that he himself had appeared here post-death why not his brother? All he could do was to bring him home and settle him in with some hot food and clean clothes. Jin Guangyao at the prodding of Koemi to face his past and come clean to his brother about the crimes he had committed.

And surprisingly, Jin Zixuan forgave him. He understood and empathized with his brother knowing what the Jins were like and chose not to throw him away or use him as their father did. Telling him that family was more important to him than the crimes he had committed in the past. It was the first time he felt seen and chosen by someone and the brothers grew close afterward choosing to live together with Jin Ling soon after. He spent much of his time learning archery from them and teaching them both life and survival skills in return.

Despite his initial contention with the Yiling Patriarch, Wei Wuxian he had ended up mending it over their shared hometown cuisine and their love for their nephew Jin Ling.

Much of Jin Guangyao's development in Slumscape was internal rather than external and most of his relationships were with his close family members and a few friends. While he didn't go and fight and investigate too much on his own, he offered his home and support to any who needed aid. His apartment was always open to those who needed a warm meal and some polite company. Thanks to his youkai's urging he had learned to strive for true compassion and deeper connections than prestige. It is a journey he is still on and hopefully will continue through Jigoku-Cho.

"Meeting then would be the best option.

I would, however, take some precautions as I tend to do. I would make a contingency plan or have an ally nearby in case things go awry.
I would also make certain to meet them in a neutral place and see what information I can glean from them. If the threat is indeed as dire as said I would be more inclined towards a truce, after some thorough negotiation.

Trust... is an altogether different story. I will plan for them to betray me and have a plan against it. But if we can put our differences aside to work towards the greater good that would benefit both of our factions.

Well, wouldn't that be the best for everyone? No one can cause great changes by themselves. In my homeworld, the Sects had all come together to work on larger projects after all. And some situations are bigger than only one group to handle."

❀ An oni of the Shuten Clan has gone completely berserk and is going on a violent rampage through the city. You can't stop him, but you CAN lead him elsewhere, but you only have two choices: a road by a discotheque with a large crowd in front, or the nearby park that you do not know is unoccupied, and may have children present. What do you choose, and why?

"I would lead them to the park. The discotheque has a certainty of having far more casualties. And fitting the Oni in a narrow area would prove to be far more difficult than in an open space. Oni are said to be very strong, yes? A narrow area would be far more destructive.

In the park, there may be children, or there may not. It is an unknown.

But making a choice where one option is certain to have high casualties and the other where there may be a few but vulnerable casualties, isn't it always better to try and strive for the least amount of lives lost? When I was a spy in the Sunshot Campaign, I killed and tormented people, yes. But I shortened the war by years saving thousands. A small sacrifice can be made for the greater good.

And practically an open area like a park would be easier to capture said oni. I would have an advantage of using my environment that I would not have otherwise."

"This is a complex feeling with a rather complex answer, I'm afraid.

What does family mean to me? In my past life, I had always wanted a family. My mother had loved me so much, she worked hard for me to survive, had educated me, and killed herself doing so. She was so desperate for my father to come back. She waited for him from when she was young until her hair turned grey. And for what? A man who could have lifted a finger to save her but did not. He spent gold like water. But he didn't at the end of it because she was 'too much trouble!' My mother loved me deeply enough for me to be hungry for it when I lost her. I knew what real love felt like.

I wanted so badly to be loved I was greedy for it.

I wanted my father to see me. To praise me for my talents. To hold me on the same level as Jin Zixuan. Even after he kicked me down the stairs initially, I doubled down to win favor in the war. In the end, it took Wen Ruohan's head for me to win a place among the Jin. It still wasn't enough. He used me. I let him use me. Sullied my hands in doing whatever disgusting war crime he wanted me to commit, that was how desperate I was for his love. At the end of it, all I was worth to him was a simple phrase.

'Ah, Meng Yao. Forget him.' All the crimes he had me commit, and that was all I was worth to him. I do not regret killing him.

Alright, Alright Koemi. I should have not involved innocents in such a horrible murder. But I wanted him to feel it.

To have him feel for a moment how my mother had felt. No control over herself and her situation had to please men to survive, and someone who could help but chose not to.

I had thought I could start a family of my own. Qin Su was so kind and I loved her so much. She was always so kind to me and we were going to have a child. I wanted to fill Koi tower with a lot of children, I was so happy. But then her mother had to tell me that horrible truth.

That my father, that beast, had raped her. And that the sweet, kind woman I was marrying was my own half-sister.

My child an abomination who was fated to die from birth.

Our marriage bed was cold and empty both of us playing at being married in name alone. I carried this secret alone until the day she found out the truth and ended herself. I was ready to bear it to the grave.

Strays. Those who can understand the same pain because we share the same scars.
I have a tendency to pick up strays. Those who were hurt as children and be that family to them. My closest friends were that. We were all stray animals trying to survive in that cruel and callous world.

Koemi is helping me heal. I was lucky to find my family in Hakagemachi. Not all of them. But my nephew Jin Ling. I raised him when he was a baby and though I made a terrible, unforgivable mistake, he accepts me and chooses to love me. As my brother chose to love me. If you ask me now, family is who you choose to love. I want to keep finding the meaning of family. I want a family still. People I can love and accept and those who will love me unconditionally, despite my many flaws. I am trying to be better."

❀ What are your greatest regrets, if you have any? What would you have done differently?

"I have as many regrets as there are stars in the sky.
I do not know which point in my life I could have turned in another direction, however.

So much of it had felt out of my control. Should I have not been filial to my mother and not chosen to desperately plea for my father's regard?

Should I have stayed with the Nie sect? Even though I would be unrecognized for the rest of my life?

Should I have not saved Nie Mingjue from Wen Ruohan's wrath even if it meant killing his men?

Should I have not been filial to my father and sect to balk at the order of killing Nie Mingjue? Even if it meant that my life would be the price.

Should I have told Lan Xichen, about all the crimes he did not want to see, did not want to hear, only wanting the image of me as something I was not.

I regret sleeping with Qin Su before we were married, perhaps we may have been able to make a different arrangement. She did not deserve what happened to her. Perhaps I should have been less kind to Mo Xuanyu, to discourage his adoration to turning to something else. I regret the death of Jin Rusong, his eyes bright and warm, even though his life would have been worse than death had the truth come out. He was fated to die because he was my son.

I regret sending my brother to his death. I think that perhaps I should have hitched my horse to him rather than our father. Jin Zixuan is kind and noble and people respected him. I feel that perhaps if I was his right hand our skills would be a good balance for the clan.

I do not regret killing my father. I only wish I did it in some other way. I allowed my rage and anger at both him and my mother's profession to get the better of me."

POWERS & ABILITIES:

Mo Dao Zu Shi Powers and Abilities:

❀ Eidetic memory: Jin Guangyao has an eidetic memory. It is mentioned that once meeting a person he never forgets his face. He is also capable of remembering their name, likes, dislikes, and more. This memory is a double edge sword. He can learn things quickly but he also remembers pain intensely. He uses this to his advantage both in learning new skills and easily as well as using his memory of people's like to endear himself to others. This ability shouldn't be affected at all in Jigoku-Cho.

❀ Cultivation. Since he manifested his golden core in his late teens, he is a weaker cultivator than many in his generation. He makes up for this lack by memorizing the techniques of many of the other sects and is known as a technique stealer. He lost this in Slumscape and will not have it when he comes to Jigoku-Cho. However, he can work towards getting it back.

❀ Chord Assassination Technique: He uses a guqin to perform this Lan technique which uses the strings as garrottes. He lost this in Slumscape and will not have it when he comes to Jigoku-Cho. However, he can work towards getting it back.

❀ Swordsmanship: Jin Guangyao is a war hero and is very adept at sword fighting. He uses a soft sword, Hensheng. It uses his spiritual powers in order to move like either a sword or a whip, sometimes it can wrap around the swords of his enemies in order to break them. Hensheng was a normal softsword in Slumscape.

❀ Sword flight: He can use Hensheng to fly by stepping on it, often traveling that way. This ability is no longer applicable since he does not have cultivation.

❀ Collection of Turmoil: Dark music that can harm the spirit. The music has spiritual powers imbued in them. It is said it can take lives and cause illness and harm to those who hear it. While he has his guqin and plays it often, Jin Guangyao has no spiritual power to use this ability. Maybe in the future.

❀ Political Savvy: Jin Guangyao is extremely intelligent and uses his political savvy in order to oversee large projects like the Lookout towers when he was the Chief Cultivator. This shouldn't be affected.

❀ Housekeeping: He is very good at household chores, from cooking and cleaning, organizing, and just being able to care for a place. Much of the work he did as a child involved serving food to clients and taking care of cooking, as well as keeping things clean and organized. He sometimes ended up caring for the babies that were born in the brothels as well since he was shown to be a natural at calming babies in the audio drama. This will not be affected.

❀ Bookkeeping and administrative tasks: Jin Guangyao has a love for organization, mathematics, administration as well as bookkeeping. His life is so chaotic that he finds solace in organization and numbers. Later in life, he will also have a love for public works projects, working on solutions that will benefit a great number of people efficiently.This shouldn't be affected.

❀ Acting: He is a fantastic actor naturally who can go from calm to frenzied with ease. This is mostly used as a defense mechanism to keep himself safe or to get what he needs from people. He is a master manipulator. This shouldn't be affected.

❀ Silver-tongue: Jin Guangyao is a natural orator who can talk around people in circles, persuade them to see his side of things, or distract an opponent. He has also been known to destroy a person with a few choice words, getting into the heart of their insecurities. This shouldn't be affected.

Slumscape Powers:

❀ Ring of Healing: only leveled once, can heal minor cuts and bruises. This can be keyed back at entry.

❀ Shapeshifting: Can shift to either a small gold fox or a large kitsune. As a celestial fox Koemi was powerful enough to take the form of another person mimicking them perfectly or as a large monster if needed. This can certainly be a power he gains later on down the line.

❀ Enhanced Strength: A boon granted by the Farm Spirit. He is a bit stronger than a human but not by much. This can be keyed back at entry.

❀ Illusion Magic: Koemi's ability. She is able to perform powerful phantom shapes, sounds, and sensations. While Jin Guangyao does not have this yet it would be fun to play with in the future.

❀ Foxfire: An illusory fire called kitsunebi. Does not have this ability on entry.

SUITABILITY:

Jin Guangyao is a character who has a questionable moral compass, complex emotions, and layers of compartmentalization. His homeworld is similar and deals with Chinese mythology, magic, and supernatural elements, so he certainly is no stranger to ghosts, monsters, demons, and fierce corpses. The nature of this world with its various youkai is similar and different enough to his own to be very interesting.

He is the type of person who exudes an immense amount of control, not only on his actions but his outward expressions as well. He is an excellent actor who can go from looking pitiable one moment to malicious the next. I want to explore what would happen as things grow more and more out of his control and to see what type of decisions he would make here.

Furthermore, Jin Guangyao was born and raised in a brothel. The seedy underworld of Jigokucho is very similar to the environment that he himself was raised in. And even in adulthood, he had to do many seedy things that required a ruthless hand. How are the factions much different than murdering his father's political opponents or torturing Wen Ruohan's prisoners of war? He also seems to get along the most with people who had struggled in childhood.

He is very adaptable so he will do his best to learn and do as much as he can in order to survive. He wouldn’t have much of an issue doing morally questionable things even if it is something that goes against his values if it ensures his survival or his ambitions. He is a man who was born the son of a prostitute and climbed up to the position of Chief Cultivator with his own resourcefulness (and some blood on his hands along the way).

FACTION SUITABILITY:

Jin Guangyao is a very very versatile man who can honestly fit into any place he ends up being in, taking in the culture and not only chameleon himself within it but working to rise through the ranks.

❀ The Shuten Clan: While Jin Guangyao is a resilient man and does not go down easily. He does tend to lie a lot but he tends to put it in favor of those he is aligned with. He has a lot of experience working for people who do. Working for his father had primed him really well for a role here and his experience with the Nie clan would have him well suited here as well. He is very familiar with those of similar values. He would be good at running a gambling ring as he is very good with math and numbers.

❀ The Tamamo Clan: As a brothel son who is both cunning and values offering people what they want while taking what he wants Jin Guangyao would be a good fit here. He is very familiar with brothel and courtesan culture as well as entertaining. He threw perfect parties and events while he was with the Jin. As someone who sees stability in power, his values would align here. He had spent his life being so many things he was not, it would be really interesting to see how he would develop here and learn what freedom is, Though he would be.

As for what he has to offer he is an excellent host with an eidetic memory and can remember people's likes and dislikes which would probably be helpful in this industry.

❀ The Sutoku Alliance: Jin Guangyao is a former spy and knows the value of information, attaining it and utilizing it in the right places. He is very good at money and knows where and how to utilize it well. He would do well in real estate and would offer his accounting services well. He was also fond of large-scale public projects, using his frugal political capital to build the watchtowers a set of 1200 towers that alert nearby cultivators of issues relating to Yao or ghosts. This project had saved more lives than any project done in the past. He would want to work together on public works projects.

❀ The Department of the Enma: While Jin Guangyao has a skewed view of justice and law, he can understand order and administration. He is prone towards organization and loves things that fall into nice neat little boxes. His accounting, admin, and eidetic memory would be valuable skills for the Enma indeed. He was the Chief Cultivator in his world an elected position. His job was to delegate and work on problems the society as a whole. Often working together with many sects to take larger problems or mediate disputes.

I prefer my partners to be above eighteen years of age. (My nephew is fourteen and I cannot imagine dating someone close to his age.) I am a fairly friendly person, who enjoys deep conversation over tea and wine and a hearty debate or spar in the field. My Future Plans

Currently I am just getting my footing here. I am looking to make friends and allies who would be willing to play this game with me. My Talents

First and foremost I am a cultivator, I am adept at swordsmanship as well as diplomacy. I have been told I am a good orator and facilitator. On a more amorous note, I grew up in a brothel so there is nothing that surprises me. I try to be as knowledgeable as I can be and am willing to learn how to please my partners. Whether that is words of affirmation or spending hours between their thighs. Because of my cultivation style, I am very flexible. Do with that information what you will. Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and Food

I love all the classic novels as well as poetry. As for movies, most of the ones in the prison were strange bug pornographic dramas. Half the time the males were eaten. It was quite odd indeed! My friend and I used to watch them together and make fun of them or make up our own plots. One epic had us strangely invested. I love music, especially classical music. I play the guqin and like playing folksongs my mother used to play for her clients. One time in prison, my Da-ge showed me some kind of alien music called "metal". If there was a kind of haunted music that would be it. A lot of hellish screaming. I did not like that. It is the worst thing I have ever heard. As for food, I love trying all kinds of different food, though I love food from my home town. I love things spicy and a lot of fish dishes. Hot noodles and pork and lotus soup are excellent in the autumn festival. Please let me try some of your favorite foods and allow me to expand my palate.

Jin Guangyao is the bastard son of a prostitute mother and a Sect Leader of the richest clan. Because of this, he was looked down on by society as a whole, and both he and his mother had to suffer many indignities throughout his early life. His mother's dying wish was for him to join his father's sect and be a good filial son to him. And he moves through half of his life towards this goal. However, the gentry could never see past his birth so he grew insecure and resentful over the continued cruelty he faced by society. Jin Guangyao exudes an immense amount of control not only in his actions but in his outward expressions as well; usually keeping a pleasant facade. He is an excellent actor who can go from looking pitiable one moment to malicious the next. He has an eidetic memory and both kindnesses and cruelties put upon him are never forgotten. He is resourceful, intelligent, adaptable, and will do whatever it takes to survive. He wouldn’t have much of an issue doing morally questionable things even if it is something that goes against his values if it ensures his survival or his ambitions. After all, he is a man who was born the son of a prostitute and climbed up to the position of Chief Cultivator with his resourcefulness (and some blood on his hands along the way). Ultimately, Jin Guangyao is fifteen traumas tied together in an ugly hat. He is an incredibly complex person who chameleons his way through society to be given basic respect. After his death, he spent a year in Reparicija, an alien prison run by bug creatures that demanded that he have sex as a punishment for his crimes. During this year, he worked on fixing his problems with his sworn Brother Nie Mingjue, a man whom he had killed and whose corpse killed him. He also worked through many of his sexual issues, due to trauma he had gained in the brothels and accidentally ending up being in an incestuous marriage with his half-sister. He is at a point in his life where he is more comfortable with sex and sexuality.

Jin Guangyao has a treasure trove of sexual hangups, related to his mother being a prostitute and his father being the worst kind of fuckboy. He had also accidentally committed incest with his half-sister who he then married and remained celibate for thirteen to sixteen years. Although he has broken out of his shell a bit after being in an alien bug sex prison, he still has a long way to go regarding feeling comfortable with sex and being in his body. Jin Guangyao doesn't like being objectified by people he does not know. the best way to go about things with him is to become his friend and build trust with him first. He's bisexual and a switch so he has a lot of options. He prefers to top with people he doesn't know well and would be happy to play the part his partner would want. When he is a bottom he prefers to have a softer approach. He doesn't like pain or being too confined without a lot of trust. He would need a top who is gentle and understanding at first. Would you consider your character to be heroic? Why or why not?(cw:spoilers for MDZS, some self harm and gore mentions)

Jin Guangyao is a complex person so defining him as 'heroic' is difficult. His character is one of the more polarizing ones in the books. He is the main antagonist of the novel, but in all truth is a foil for the protagonist. Both the characters are people at the edges of society who get eaten alive by society as a whole.

He is someone who had on the larger scale of things done some huge deeds that benefitted his world a lot. He worked as a spy during a war to kill the megalomaniac who started the war, ultimately shortening something that would have caused years more of suffering and bloodshed. When he was in power he organized a set of two thousand watchtowers, which worked as an alarm system to alert cultivators nearby in the case of danger. This single policy saved more lives than anything the cultivation world has done before. If a family was too poor to pay the cultivators for their services, his Lanling Jin sect used their vast wealth to cover them. He was one of the few people who seemed to be interested in helping the smallfolk who were affected by the gentry during the war.

However, Jin Guangyao has also killed a lot of people, including his father, sworn brother, and others who were close to him. He has a very high sense of self-preservation and will not hesitate to kill others in order to survive, especially in a world that would ground him down at any opportunity. He has committed many sins and did so with a ruthlessness that is anachronistic to how he presents himself outwardly. This is a man who hid a qin wire in his own body in case he ever needed it. His survival is more important than even his own body.

His final act was to push away one of the most important people to him in the world even though he was afraid to die alone and was surprised to see he agreed to die with him. His place in the world due to his low birth was held higher than any of the amazing things he had accomplished with very little in his lifetime. Moving up from the son of a whore to become the chief cultivator at the end of his life. If one were to ask him, he would say he did the best he could under the very bad choices that were presented to him.

❁ Cultivation: Because Jin Guangyao developed his golden core in his late teens, his cultivation isn't too high. He ends up having to rely on his other skills to fight and keep himself safe, including some demonic cultivation.

❁Eidetic Memory: Jin Guangyao has an eidetic memory. It is mentioned that once meeting a person he never forgets his face. He is also capable of remembering their name, likes, dislikes, and more. This memory is a double edge sword. He can learn things quickly but he also remembers pain intensely. He uses this to his advantage both in learning new skills quickly and easily as well as using his memory of people's like to endear himself to others.

❁Swordsmanship: Since he became a cultivator later in life and hadn't grown up in a clan most of what Jin Guangyao knows is what he learned on the battlefield and his fighting style is a mix of whatever styles he had seen, memorized, and practiced himself. He is very good at picking up things quickly. He is very much self-taught and would rather use underhanded means in fighting if it meant his survival. His sword is called Hensheng or 'Hatred for Life'. It is a soft sword that he wears concealed around his waist or arm and brings out at critical moments. With spiritual energy imbued in it, it can wrap around objects and break them into pieces. It is very sharp.

Description/Aesthetic: The Temple of Persephone is located in the middle of a lush and verdant field, close to the forests. Why don't you come on in and make an offering to the Goddess of Spring in the middle of your travels? The Temple itself is a large building with beautiful vines and flowers filling across expensive marble. Floral and fruity scents fill the air along with the sound of buzzing bees as they make their journey to produce the most delicious honey. There are some lovely hidden alcoves as well as an inner pond. Feel free to find some and spend some time with your own 'honey'.

The back of the Temple has a set of suites that is Persephone's home away from home, with a kitchen and other amenities a goddess may need. It is off-limits to the public except for those that she allows inside. Though the scent of freshly baked goods fills the air.

Business Set Up: This is a large complex, where one can leave offerings for the goddess. Food for her (vegetarian please), or her dog Cerberus (he is a hungry pup), clothing or bolts of fabric, plants, or seeds are all acceptable offerings. There is no need to plot with her to use this as a location in your threads.

Feel free to explore the gardens, watch the flowers and the bees. Spend time with a lover, and have fun.

In-Game powers:

❁ Chimera's Claw Transformation. Shapeshifting into any creature that they have seen ("canonically real") for up to two hours at a time. (If you're thinking what you should be thinking, that's exactly why.) Size limitations are enforced within the city - for example, turning into a Transformer would work, but they would be scaled down to about eight feet.

❁ Mnemosyne's Melding Limited telepathy and thought projection, allowing for one-way reading or broadcasting of thoughts and/or memories.

❁ Limited Telepathy: Jin Guangyao can transmit information from his mind to another in a limited range.

While he can pick up surface thoughts in a tag and have some form of empathy he cannot read deeper thoughts (subconscious thoughts), doubly so if your character has strong mental barriers.

❁ Thought projection: Similarly, he can project surface thoughts or images in a tag in a limited capacity. These images will be short but very detailed, the colors too vibrant. Sometimes if he is particularly anxious it may be a few consecutive detailed images. As he progresses control he can be more targeted with his approach.

❁ Memory share: Jin Guangyao can also broadcast his own memories, this is done through physical contact. the target will experience these from his POV with an added sense of empathy.

He has an Eidetic memory so these would be clear and hyperfocused.

However, if it is a particularly traumatic memory it may start blurring in places and hyper-focusing on other things. This can be broken if physical contact is broken.
